Our History

The first 100 Women Who Care group was formed in November 2006 by Karen Dunigan of Jackson, Michigan, USA. At their first one-hour meeting, the Jackson 100 Women Who Care group raised $10,000 to buy 300 new baby cribs for an organization in their city! Their membership has now grown to nearly 300 members and other cities across United States and Canada continue to form their own giving circles.

The first Canadian Chapter of 100 Women Who Care was started in 2012 by Toronto lawyer Jennifer Wootton Regan. There are now 52 Chapters across the country and numbers are growing! Women have embraced this simple concept that can make a difference to their local communities and provide powerful assistance to the charities that support the people who live there.

Who We Are

Three times a year, we will meet for one hour and jointly select a local registered charity or not-for-profit organization that will receive a $100 cheque from each of our members. The members vote that evening for the selected charity and write their cheques to the chosen organization. By joining funds with other like-minded women in our group, we can make a real impact with up to $20000 or more invested in the City of Kawartha Lakes over a 12-month period. Together we can make a huge impact and make a real difference in our community.
